The Bible on Importance of Words

  • Do not let any unwholesome talk come out your mouths, only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:29-32

  • But now you must also rid of yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other since you have taken off your old self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Colossians 3:8-10

  • Nor should there be obscenity , foolish talk, or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. Ephesians 5:4

  • For I am afraid when I come,  l may not find you as l want you to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder. 2 Corinthians 12:20

  • But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgement for every word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. Matthew 12:36-37
