My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son. Endure hardship as discipline, God is treating you as his children. Proverbs 3:11

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish it so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2

In all this, you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith, of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire, may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:7

Though you have made me see troubles many and bitter, you will restore my life again, from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honour and comfort me once more. Psalms 71:20

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I rejoice in the Lord. I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk 3:17-18
