The Bible on Anger

  • My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.  Because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. James 1:19-20

  • Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:9

  • Fools give vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end. Proverbs 29:11

  • A hot-tempered person must pay the penalty, rescue them and they will do it again. Proverbs 19:19

  • The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit. Proverbs 15:4

  • Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self control. Proverbs 25:28
